Repainted nightstand

I got a little spontaneous and painted Kadie's nightstand so it will match her "some-day" quilt, which I have the fabric for, just need to find a couple more to match it and decide which pattern to do.

Here's how it looked before:Here's how it looks now:
I used Krylon spray paint in Raspberry. Yum.
I'm almost done with a certain quilt I've been working on. I'll share it soon!

52 reasons I love you

Here's another Valentines idea I did this year. My sister in law found this idea and shared it with me and my other sister in laws. I thought it was such a cute idea! It's a deck of cards, and on each card it has a reason you love the person. I made one for the hubs, of coarse.
You print out some "labels" with your reasons on them (I made my own, but on the link above, you can get printable ones) and glue them on, then you punch holes in all the cards, and loop them through binder rings or you can do ribbon.I got my deck of cards here (don't you love them?! I do!!). And some of my other sister in laws got these ones.

It was so much fun coming up with reasons I love my hubby. I'd recommend doing it, even if you don't make one of these.

So that's one of the little gifts for my man this year.

And again, I'll probably be back later to share more.

Kadie's Valentines

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

I personally love Valentine's day. I know some people don't like it, because they think it's commercialized (which it is), and think it's ridiculous you need a holiday to show your love. But for me, it's another day out of the year to celebrate the people I love in my life. Not that I love them more on that day, or any less any other day of the year. But it's just another excuse to show that love. I love it. So, of coarse, today's the day Kadie gets to hand out Valentines at school, so I thought I'd share what we did this year. I got the idea from here, and then made my own labels (mainly because I already had some celophane bags, and the size of mine were different. Plus it's just fun to make your own).
I picked up a large bag of Starbursts last night, and then put them together after the kids went to bed. I procrastinated.
On the back of them, I added a heart so Kadie could write her name.

I thought they turned out pretty cute. (p.s. if you want my labels, email me and I'll send them to you)

Well, I'll probably be back later today to share another Valentine's idea. See you then!

i LOVE plates tutorial re-post

Hello February!! Time has been flying!!

Today I thought I would do a re-post for a Valentine's project I did last year. The i LOVE plates. Materials:

-red paint pen
-printed letters of words you want to use
-a black sharpy to add in "hearts" or whatever else on your printed words
-an exacto knife or razor blade

If you're using printed words (you can just free hand it if you want. I did both ways), cut them out with the exacto knife. Don't worry about cutting out the thin lines (especially at the top and bottom of the "O") because the paint won't be able to get into the thin crevices without bleeding.

Roughly stencil it onto your plate. Let it dry a little, then fill it in, adding the thin lines and touching it up. It's hard to get it perfect, so if there are small "bleeding" mistakes, just let the paint dry a couple hours, then go back with your blade and scrape the paint you want gone to clean it up.

Let them dry completely.

Mine are far from perfect, but I've made peace with that.

I got the idea for the "la la love u" one from the song "La La Love You" by the Pixies, but I remembered that Sparkle Power also sells signs that say that. No copy-cat intended!
